Induction Programme Day 8

How to Develop Leadership Skills and Emotional Intelligence by Prof. Harvinder Soni, Director, Pacific Business School
  On the 8th day of the induction programme, a Session on ‘How to develop Leadership Skills and Emotional Intelligence’ was conducted by Prof. Harvinder Soni, Director Pacific Business School to enable the students discover their leadership potential and hone their leadership skills. The session also focused on understanding the relevance of Emotional Intelligence for attaining success in the corporate world. The students were divided into groups and assigned group tasks. During the course of  interaction with their group members and while working towards the attainment of group tasks the students developed a sense of self -awareness, self-motivation, self regulation, empathy and social skills which are the facets of emotional intelligence.  The students were given tips on how to maintain emotional balance even in crises situations. They also mastered the art of shared leadership and group cohesiveness.
Inspirational videos were also shown of great corporate leaders like Dhirubhai Ambani and Bill Gates, Sachin Tendulkar who is called the God of Cricket and Superstar Amitabh Bachhan. The objective was to develop passion in the students for attainment of their career goals and reiterate the fact that the path towards success may be full of obstacles and struggle but one can be successful in life through hard work, perseverance and a fierce professional will. Besides, the students were made aware of the fact that they can be leaders wherever they are irrespective of the level at which they are working i.e. whether at the top, middle or lower level. The concept of Servant Leadership was introduced to the students with the help of video clips. The students learnt that leadership is not about ordering people but it is about serving them and influencing them for growth.


 It was an interactive session and students were given an opportunity to freely share their ideas and opinions which enhanced the confidence level of students. The students participated in the session with great vigor and enthusiasm and were taking initiative in giving presentation of the group tasks assigned to them. At the end of the session the students gave their inputs regarding the learning from the session.













































































































Extempore and Group Discussion

Just after the break, Dr. Subhash Sharma, Mr. Ravindra Bangar and Ms. Nidhi Nalwaya conducted a session on Group Discussion and Extempore in which they divided all the students in groups and gave them different topics to discuss in a group. This was done to give students an experience of spontaneous interaction, learn to use language purposeful and learn to try out communication strategy.
